17 Feb 2018 (Palomino, Colombia): The food at the place we stayed was really surprisingly great. I wish I could have eaten a lot more of it and would definitely recommend. Anyway, I’m a lot better but still a far cry from 100%. I have a 90-minute car ride, two short flights, and another 60-minute car ride to look forward to today, but then we’ll be in Medellin for an extended chunk of time without any pressing need for motion-sickness-inducing travel. It’s all been a little worse the past couple days because of that stupid lobster, but these modes and frequency of travel really force me to face how much I don’t like feeling so vulnerable to things like a car’s broken air conditioner or shock absorbers, or a hormonal pack of rich 12-year-olds with a different sense of personal space.
The trips were largely uneventful. I felt nauseous at times, but mostly it was all fine. I definitely have my wife to thank for that. If I had had to do more than focus on feeling OK and going where she told me, I probably would have puked on those kids.
